WHIRLPOOL’S GAS HOBS ADD FURTHER STEEL TO STAINLESS

WHIRLPOOL’S GAS HOBS ADD FURTHER STEEL TO STAINLESS

In an era where hobs are aplenty but often indistinguishable in terms of design and performance, the importance of staying one step ahead is paramount as budgets are being continually squeezed.

Whirlpool is pushing the barriers by adding a new and significant coat of armour to a trusted old favourite. The sheer style and enduring properties of stainless steel are well documented and hugely popular with consumers, but Whirlpool has advanced the concept on its new range of new built-in 600mm and 750mm gas hobs.

The application of iXelium™ to the stainless steel marks a new and genuinely innovative advance.  Due to the application of nanotechnology, Whirlpool’s iXelium™ acts as a barrier against chemical and mechanical agents, preserving the quality and natural shine of the metal over time. iXelium™ is effectively anti-ageing and prevents surface tarnishing from stains and yellowing, and additionally reduces the signs of scratches, corrosion and marks.

The technology also makes for easy cleaning, as food residue does not stick to the surface. All that’s needed to restore the perfect look is a simple wipe using only natural, non-aggressive detergents. iXelium’s™ ‘green’ properties mean it not only saves time and effort; it also reduces the ecological damage compared to standard cleaning products.

A perfect example of the new Whirlpool range of hobs is the 600mm wide AKT 680/IXL, which is a beautifully designed four-zone model in what still ranks as the favoured fuel of most cooks and would-be chefs. This middle market treat has front controls for ease of use and convenience and offers the style and technological capabilities of many more expensively priced models.

Dalia Haddad, Whirlpool’s Product Marketing Manager for Built-In, says: “In these tough economic times, more than ever before, it is vitally important for the enterprising manufacturer to find attractive and genuinely meaningful new features and benefits for the more cautious and budget-conscious consumer. The AKT 680/IXL bears all the classic features of stainless steel gas hobs that most consumers prefer, with the tremendous and unique additional selling point that iXelium™ reduces consumer cleaning time and effort, and increases the lifetime of the hob substantially, creating extra value, which is imperative in the market today!”
