InSinkErator sorts the luxuries from the essentials

An extensive survey* by InSinkErator® has revealed that nearly half of us would regard the ideal kitchen gadget as being an automatic bin that would empty itself. Hard evidence is comprehensively proving that we are wasting many chances to improve our lives and the world around us by regarding so-called luxury appliances as a waste of time.

Most of us profess to despise waste in its many forms yet the findings also reveal that a great many people continue to waste food, water and other precious commodities through ignorance, laziness or a misunderstanding of how seemingly ‘luxury’ products, such as food waste disposers and steaming hot water taps can be a great long term investment for the user and the environment.

A large percentage of those polled had a far greater fondness for espresso machines, range cookers, blenders, microwaves, dishwashers, sandwich toasters, kitchen TVs and slow cookers.

Much like our dishwashers, food waste disposers and steaming hot water taps are not luxury items when the facts are considered. InSinkErator®’s products are competitively priced, offer enormous benefits and are WRAS approved.

InSinkErator®, the inventor and global leader in food waste disposers, and a major player in steaming hot water taps, has some very sobering and pertinent facts for our attention. These products might not be among the most glamorous on the market, but they are certainly great for the environment, and a valuable time and motion saver for the user.

Food waste accounts for about twenty per cent of all household rubbish and it is reckoned that local authorities could save around £33 per household if everyone were to use a food waste disposer. Food scraps that have been through a waste disposer can be used to create biosolids as part of a holistic waste management approach. When the recycled material is used as a power source, soil conditioner or fertiliser, the cycle begins again.

With a disposer, food waste is dealt with hygienically and instantly and less food waste ends up in landfill to contribute to methane and other greenhouse gas emissions.

InSinkErator®’s range of top quality steaming hot water taps, which provide instant hot water, are not only convenient they are super-efficient. With a steaming hot water tap, hot water is available on demand and this immediate availability means little to no water waste. There are many other advantages too. Cooking utensils can be cleaned on an efficient, one-off basis, while instant drinks and foods and other products requiring hot water can be prepared without the need to heat water in a kettle.

Ashley Munden, InSinkErator®’s Managing Director, Europe says: “InSinkErator® products are dispelling the long held myth that environmentally friendly products are little more than an expensive treat. These products are not gadgets that simply look great and make us feel good. They are exceptional energy and money savers and make a vast contribution to preventing unnecessary waste of water, and promote hygienic, easy and eco-friendly dispersion of food waste.”
