InSinkErator Encourages The Use Of Plastic Alternatives On World Environment Day

InSinkErator® is encouraging the use of re-fillable drinking bottles, instead of plastic bottles, on World Environment Day, 5th June 2018.

Today, 5th June, marks the 44th annual World Environment Day; a day designed to increase awareness of environmental issues and for action to be taken to protect the environment. This year’s World Environment Day theme is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, encouraging change with the message, ‘if you can’t re-use it, refuse it’.

Research conducted by the United Nations highlighted that plastic drinking bottles are the second most common single-use plastic found in the environment1. Plastic drinking bottles, along with food wrappers, plastic straws and take-away containers, are products of a throwaway culture, where plastic is treated as a disposable material, rather than a valuable resource1.

At the touch of a button, the InSinkErator® 4N1 Touch tap provides instant, filtered, cold water, therefore, consumers with a 4N1 Touch Tap can benefit by having instant filtered water readily available in their own home, reducing the need to purchase bottled water; especially when a variety of re-fillable drinking bottles are widely available.

Anne Kaarlela, Marketing Communications Manager, Europe and Russia InSinkErator®, says: “With one million plastic bottles being bought every minute2, World Environment Day is so important to increase the awareness of what is happening to the world we live in and how we can make a change.

“InSinkErator® 4N1 Touch taps offer consumers an alternative to buying an endless number of single-use, plastic bottled water as the 4N1 provides filtered cold water at the touch of a button. At InSinkErator®, we will continue to offer affordable solutions to consumers that reduce the strain on landfill sites, limiting the damage to the environment.”
