Attleborough care home manager wins excellence award

Ruth Stannard, Manager of the Brooklyn House care home in Attleborough, Norfolk, has been recognised for her dedication at the recent ceremony held by the Caring Homes Group, ‘Celebrating Excellence Awards 2010’.

Ruth won the award for Management Excellence, as a result of the hard work she puts into the role and the compassionate attitude she applies to her work.

Ruth says: “It was wonderful to win the award for Management Excellence, and I was really surprised. I am very proud that all the hard work I put into my role has been recognised, and it feels good to be appreciated.

“I am a very proactive manager, and aim to involve residents and their families as much as possible with any decision making. I also value my staff team and involve them in any new developments that are taking place. This leads to happy residents and a successful workforce. Winning this award shows that the company shares my values, and it has increased my confidence in my abilities as a manager.”

The Caring Homes Group, the UK’s largest independently owned care home group, introduced the ‘Celebrating Excellence Awards’ to recognise excellent service, commitment and dedication of the company’s unsung heroes, across all spectrums of care. Nominations were received from all the Caring Homes Groups brands; Caring Homes, Consensus, Curate and Cheshire House.

Held at the Radisson Hotel in Stanstead, Essex, the ceremony was hosted by the hilarious and outrageous act ‘ 4 Poofs and a Piano’, who are best known as the house band on BBC One’s incredibly popular ‘Friday Night with Jonathon Ross’. Over 250 members of staff from the Caring Homes Group attended the evening, which also included a delicious three-course meal. A raffle was held to support those affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

Emma Charlton, Group Marketing Director, says: “I would like to congratulate Ruth on her award, it is a real achievement and she should be very proud of herself and the important work that she does at Cheshire House.

“Our staff work so hard throughout the year, and truly do deserve to be rewarded for their dedication. The awards evening acknowledged and celebrated the role of each and every member, and their outstanding contribution, effort and achievements.”
