Warlingham chef wins excellence award

Alan Meaden, Head Chef at the Cranmer Court care home in Warlingham, Surrey, has been recognised for his dedication at the recent ceremony held by the Caring Homes Group, ‘Celebrating Excellence Awards 2010’.

Alan won the award for Chef of the Year, as a result of the hard work he puts into his job and the superb and varied food he produces for the residents.

Alan says: “Winning this award is a great achievement, not just for me but for everyone – it is an award for the whole team because I would not have won without their support. It is a real honour to be recognised, and rewarded for the hard work I put in.”

The Caring Homes Group, the UK’s largest independently owned care home group, introduced the ‘Celebrating Excellence Awards’ to recognise excellent service, commitment and dedication of the company’s unsung heroes, across all spectrums of care. Nominations were received from all the Caring Homes Groups brands; Caring Homes, Consensus, Curate and Cheshire House.

Held at the Radisson Hotel in Stanstead, Essex, the ceremony was hosted by the hilarious and outrageous act ‘ 4 Poofs and a Piano’, who are best known as the house band on BBC One’s incredibly popular ‘Friday Night with Jonathon Ross’. Over 250 members of staff from the Caring Homes Group attended the evening, which also included a delicious three-course meal. A raffle was held to support those affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

Emma Charlton, Group Marketing Director, says: “I would like to congratulate Alan on his award, it is a real achievement and he should be very proud of himself and the important work that he does at Cranmer Court.

“Our staff work so hard throughout the year, and truly do deserve to be rewarded for their dedication. The awards evening acknowledged and celebrated the role of each and every member, and their outstanding contribution, effort and achievements.”
